Tuna? / Salmon? tin bottom is a good idea (not to mention the beans tin stand). I use the plastic tops from Pringles and gravy granules (says more about my diet than caviar ever can :) ) for mixing. Flakes off nicely too.
Probably tuna (salmon is a rarity in my house!) The reason for the bean tin is that it is filled with hot water so helps make the glue more fluid to aid mixing.
